Lds and 7th day Adventist church

Recently My Dad and I went down to see the Orangeburg Ward in Orangeburg, SC. Since becoming a ward, the church building has been going under some renovations. Temporarily the ward is renting out a church from the 7th day Adventist church. We got there, met and greeted our old friends just right before sacrament meeting. The first time I set my foot in there i saw how big the room was and it was HUGE!!. The rooms hold a congregation of 4,100 people, so many chairs and all. We got up to the first speaker, Sister Williams and then the power went out. The first two counselors in the Bishopric got up and walked around the very large room to see what was going on. The Bishop was out of town in Florida while this was going on. The 2nd counselor in the Stake Presidency got up. He said stuff about Pioneers and that we should be appreciating them. We then concluded. The first counselor in the Bishopric then said were cancelling church for the day due to power. My Dad and I were one of the last few to leave. The lights turned on and the power was up in running. We go out the door and see the county fixing the power problem. We asked them what cause all this. This was caused by a darn bird, who flew in to a transformer and made the power go out. I conclude this by saying I guess it is possible to have a little bird ruin your church.

weekend in NC

I went to NC to see Randy, Rebecca and my parents over the weekend, it was quite an experience. I don't know how you can get Chris Farley and Michael Scott in a priesthood lesson, but Randy was able to pull it off. I was doing impressions of michael scott from the show "The Office", about how he didn't go to business college. "Tracy Mcgrady, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James all never went to college. I went to the school of hard knocks".Randy looked at me and said "you just gave me a great idea". All of a sudden a clip came up on the computer and Michael Scott says "I declare BANNNNKKKRUPTCY!". Very funny! May I add that to all of this was in a power point slide show in the Elder's quorum in Randy's ward. Also Sam saved the 4th of July once again, buying over 120 dollars in fireworks and going all out like there was no tomorow . It was an unforgettable experience.

Preparation Procrastination

If you have ever been a teacher or spoken in church, you realize the importance of preparation. Ideally this should happen several days before your lesson, or at least the day before. Here are the top ten signs that you may be suffering from a severe case of preparation procrastination.
10) You ask your children to be quiet and have your spouse drive to church as look over your notes to pull everything together. You took the notes that morning while eating breakfast.9) You spend your time in Sacrament meeting coloring and cutting out the handouts for this week's lesson. You have so many to get done that you enlist the help of your ten year old, eight year old and six year old. You even let your two year old color a few of the pictures for you.
8) You have two spiritual experiences that you can relate to nearly every gospel topic. You know that you have been using them too much when you start the story and the members of your class take turns finishing it up for you.
7) You are always tired on Sundays because you stayed up late the night before preparing your lesson. Of course you didn't start preparing your lesson until you would have normally gone to bed.
6) You justify your late preparation by saying that being poorly prepared allows you to more easily adjust the lesson in the direction that the spirit takes you.
5) You wake up in the morning and spend several minutes on your knees begging for insight into your topic. You hope that the insight will come quickly as you scan your lesson for the first time.
4) You never have a display or handouts or pictures to accompany your lesson. These personal touches are always forgotten in your rush out the door.
3) You are often surprised when they announce that you will be teaching this week's lesson. You have mastered the skill of asking the class to share their thoughts on your assigned topic.
2) You spend your time in Sunday school frantically reading the Priesthood manual for the lesson the next hour. You start by skimming the topic headings and then randomly star the quotes you will talk about.
1) You are late to church because you couldn't find your scriptures or your lesson manual. After looking for forty-five minutes, you decide that you will borrow what you need from the library. If all else fails you can just sings songs in your Primary class.

not a normal day for me

I have just gotten back from the bishops storehouse. Today was the biggest delivery i have done here for 2 months being at the storehouse. The storehouse is about to begin renovation in the main warehouse part and so we had to take 4 weeks worth of groceries to Augusta today. It was really amazing with the help we recieved. I look at that as a blessing. we had 6 missionaries come from the ward and they are apart of the Macon Ga mission. Isnt that great? that has been the highlight of my day thus far and this is dbone signing out
